CVS: Printable ECB’s From Home!

WOW! CVS has added something new to their website for ECB’s! This is a fantastic feature!

Ok so the new feature is that if you lose your ECB you can access them online and print! You can also keep track of your recently redeemed ECB’s.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Head over to www.cvs.com and log in or sign up for an account
2. If you’re signing up for an account you’ll need your CVS ECB card number
3. Then click on “My Account” (upper right)
4. Then click on “Go to ExtraCare”
5. Then go to the “ExtraCare Rewards and Coupons”

It will let you know the current ECB’s you have. I just got one yesterday for $1 and it’s there. This is something to share with everyone that shops at CVS! You never know who has ECB’s and aren’t using them! LOL

(Thanks Chinatown Cheapskate!)

CVS 101: What are ECB’s and How to Use Them

I know several of you new to couponing and that in itself can be a bit confusing, but then again so can the Drugstore reward programs. Learning how to use them can be very confusing. I’m writing this post to hopefully help you with shopping at CVS. It’s easier than you think!

What are Extra Care Bucks:
Extra Care Bucks (ECB) are printed money which print out at the bottom of your receipt when qualifying items are purchased. The ECBs can then be used to purchase almost all merchandise sold at CVS. Some exceptions include alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards, prescriptions, and special order Home Health Care items, including footwear. The Extra Bucks can be redeemed on purchases in-store or online at CVS.com.

What do you mean the item is FREE?
When I first started shopping at CVS, I was wondering how an item can be FREE if I am paying the cashier for my free item! Well, it was explained to me in a very simple way and an easy way to understand.

First of all when we say something is free at CVS, it’s really not free!
Here’s how it works

Lets say there is Purex Laundry Detergent on sale for $4.99 with $4.99 in ECB back. This means that you will go to the register and pay out of pocket $4.99 plus tax for the Purex Laundry Detergent and in return the cashier will give you your receipt and at the end of that receipt will be your ECB for $4.99! Now you will have $4.99 to spend at CVS the next time you visit, which will make those next items FREE!

When you use your ECB, you have to use it on a total that equals the value of the ECB or higher! Ex: You can not use the $4.99 ECB on a purchase of $2.

I like to roll my ECB when I can. All that means is I use the ECB’s I have on items that will give me more ECB’s in return. EX: Use $4.99 in ECB on 2 Colgate toothpaste that were on sale for $2.77 ea with $2.77 ECB back ea = $5.54 with $.55 plus tax out of pocket and $5.54 in ECB back!

If you have any questions, please ask. I’m always happy to help

Possible Changes to CVS Extra Care Program

Did you know that CVS awarded nearly $2 billion in Extra Bucks to customers last year. But only a relatively small fraction of that amount actually got used.

This is only one of the reasons CVS is looking into changing their ECB program.

“we have a militia of technical people looking at how the receipt won’t be the currency going forward. The goal is to have the reward stored in the customer’s card.”

What is a CVS Advisor?
CVS will send surveys to panel members approximately four times per year to collect feedback regarding CVS stores, products, and services including the Extra Care Card program. In exchange for that feedback, survey participants are rewarded with ECB’s.

NOTE: Under FAQ, “You WILL NOT receive ExtraBucks for completing the initial profile survey to participate in future Panel surveys.”

I got my first survey last week! The survey I completed took less than 10 minutes and then I was able to print a $10 ECB for my time. I’ve heard the ECB’s range from $2 – $15.00. You are allowed 2 Extra Care Cards per household, so make sure you have 2 to get extra coupons from the kiosk.
